Desserts at Cake Club

One of my favorite dessert places in Manila is The Cake Club by Diamond Hotel at Bonifacio Global City.

The Cake Club also offers savory dishes for the lunch or dinner crowd but I always come for the sweets.

Here are the items I've tried from their dessert menu:

Ispahan (250php)
Practically a giant macaroon, perfect for those who are not into very rich cakes.

Baked Cheesecake (250php)
My favorite Cake Club cake! Rich and pure making it a cheesecake that's hard to resist.

Supermoist Chocolate Cake (250php)
True to hype, this decadent chocolate cake is very moist indeed.

Diamond Ensymada (120php)
Diamond Hotel is very famous for its ensymada but I'm not much of a fan. It's very ordinary for me. Also tried their ube version on a separate trip, but I wasn't swayed.

Foie Gras Macaroon (150php)
A lot has also been said about this very sinful macaroon but I don't like it as well. Too exotic for my simple palate.

Ice Cream: 150php for 2 scoops
Truth be told, more than the cakes, it's the homemade ice cream that makes me keep coming back to The Cake Club. One can never go wrong with the Salted Caramel and Baked Cheesecake flavors.

The Cake Club is located at UG/F Bonifacio High Street Central, East Superblock, 7th Ave cor 29th St. Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. For more information call 621-3176.

Let Us Eat Cake!

With Christmas just around the corner, there's no better time for me to share some of the cakes I've recently tried.

Continue reading to have an idea on what cake to bring to any merrymaking...

Delize's Concorde

I finally got to try the best privately baked cake in Manila and let me tell you that it did live up to its hype. For someone who doesn't like chocolate cakes, I certainly enjoyed the chocolate overload.  Imagine having crisp chocolate meringe with chewy chocolate fudge brownie. Heaven!

Conti's Peach Walnut Torte

This cake reminded me of brazo de mercedes because it was very airy. The foam dominated the cake more than anything else.

Homemade by Roshan's Mango Walnut Torte

The cake was pretty to look at but I felt that it was missing something. To be fair, my expectations were high since I've heard a lot of positive reviews about the creations of Roshan. The mangoes could have been sweeter and the walnuts could have been crunchier.

Aristocrat's Grand Chocolate Cake

They didn't call this grand for nothing. The dark chocolate flavor overwhelmed and I couldn't quite manage more than a couple of bites.

Conti's Mango Bravo

The classic cake that put Conti's on the map is still as enjoyable as I remembered it to be. It's hard to go wrong with a cake that has mangoes, wafer, cream, and chocolate syrup.

Becky's Kitchen's Swiss Chocolate Cake

Soft and light with the perfect harmony of coffee and mocha flavors. The toffee in the middle was such a treat that I managed to finish the slice in no time.

Costa Brava's Classic Sansrival

Too rich and buttery that I had to scrape the top layer off to lessen the calorie guilt.

For those who don't like cakes (blasphemy!!!),  a pint of ice cream perhaps?
Pinkerton's Vanilla Nutella Ice Cream
The vanilla base is probably one of the best in town but I wished for more nutella.

One Dollah Ice Cream

Singapore Day 2
Orchard Road
6:46 p.m.

At least for me, no trip in Singapore is complete without having one dollar ice creams!

Carts like this are all over Orchard Road. Just choose the cart that catches your fancy.

Lots of flavor options but not all are always available

One can elect to have the ice cream be eaten with bread.

But I prefer mine to be sandwiched between two crispy wafers.

While the one dollar ice creams won't win any awards, it's the perfect companion when braving the humid Singapore weather while strolling along Orchard Road.
